BACKGROUND
Fraser Coast Tourist FM was an idea conceived by a local resident, Roger Wilson, in 2016. Roger managed to secure a LPON Narrowcast licence for 87.8MHz and commenced operation from his private residence then located in Bingham Road, Booral, QLD. Initially the station was called "Bay City Gold" which later evolved into "Fraser Coast Tourist Radio". Soon to become "Fraser Radio" in May, 2022!
RIVER HEADS PROGRESS ASSOCIATION (RHPA)
Roger and his wife, Celia, were volunteers in the Friday night Cafe & Bar at the community hall. Roger was one of the chefs and Celia worked the till. From there, Roger and Celia realised that RHPA could provide valuable assistance and networking in setting up and promoting the radio station to operate from the community hall. They approached RHPA about acquiring Roger’s interest in the radio station to serve the local community. The matter was put to the Association and it was decided that RHPA acquire the radio station transmitting on 88.0 Mhz.
